ABOUT US

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Our members come from widely diverse ethnic, cultural, and political backgrounds, but we stand united in our core Christian beliefs. Our desire is not to follow man-made innovations and philosophies, but rather to hold firm to the biblical “faith that was once for all delivered” (Jude 3) and handed down through generations.

We thus affirm historic Christian teaching as reflected in the evangelical Protestant tradition. The Nicene Creed and the Five Solas express our core convictions: Scripture alone, Christ alone, faith alone, grace alone, and God’s glory alone.

Our core beliefs should be listed on the website… this is copied from the statement of faith page from ICC and it is very TL;DR and needs to be more concise.

THIS AREA BELOW IS TOO WORDY… LIMIT IT TO TWO LINES OR SO IF POSSIBLE WITH BIBLE REFERENCES…

at the end, we can link the full statement of faith page from ICC (have a separate page for that).

God

There is one God, Creator and Lord of the Universe, who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three persons are equal in power, glory and divine perfection, and are worthy of worship and obedience.

The Bible

The Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments alone is the inspired, revealed inerrant Word of God, and is our full and final authority, sufficient in all maters of faith and practice.

We affirm that Scripture alone is God’s inspired, sufficient, and inerrant revelation to mankind and our only infallible rule of faith and practice (2 Tim 3:16-17, Isa 55:10-11). By His grace, we thus endeavor to proclaim, guard, cherish, and practice Scripture’s teachings as we seek to worship the Triune God “in spirit and truth” (John 4:24).

The Human Race

All men and women are created in the image of God with equal and inherent value and dignity, yet through Adam’s disobedience and our own personal choice are sinners, alienated from God, under his condemnation and wrath, and thus in need of redemption.

The Lord Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and died in the place of sinners on the cross, accomplishing redemption by bearing the punishment and the wrath for all who believe. He rose bodily from the dead and ascended to heaven where-as the only mediator between God and man-he intercedes for his people, and from where he will return in power and glory.

Salvation

Salvation is by grace, through faith in Christ alone. It has been accomplished by Jesus Christ and is proclaimed and offered to all in the gospel. All who repent and believe are forgiven, justified, and made new creatures in Christ, receiving the gift of eternal life and adoption into God’s family.

We hold to the good news that while all humans are sinners deserving God’s righteous judgment (Rom 3:23, 6:23), there is salvation in Christ alone (Acts 4:12). His perfect life and atoning death not only paid the full penalty for sin, but also imputes upon His children a righteousness whereby they are forgiven and stand fully justified before God (2 Cor 5:21, Rom 5:1). Salvation is received by God’s grace alone through the response of faith alone in Christ’s finished work, entirely apart from any meritorious actions on our part (Eph 2:1-10)

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit has been sent from heaven to glorify Christ and to apply his work of salvation. He convicts sinners, imparts spiritual life and gives a true understanding of the Scriptures. He indwells all believers, distributes spiritual gifts, brings assurance of salvation and produces increasing likeness to Christ. He builds up the Church and empowers its members for worship, service and mission.

The Church

The Church is one holy and universal body and bride of Christ. The church is composed of all who are redeemed through the work of Christ and is called to worship God and to witness concerning her Head, Jesus Christ. The local church proclaims, values, and submits to the whole counsel of God, administers baptism and communion as signs of the Gospel, and exercises spiritual authority to care for her members and fulfill her mission of making disciples of all nations. Unity is expressed within and between churches by mutual love, care and encouragement. True fellowship between churches exists only where they are faithful to the gospel.

we confess that we were created and redeemed for God’s glory alone, and that our chief purpose in life is to glorify and enjoy Him forever (Isa 43:7, Eph 1:3-14)

The Return of Christ and the Future

Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to raise the dead and bring salvation and judgment to completion: Those joined to Christ by faith will be brought into fullness of eternal life and joy in Christ, those alienated from Christ will be separated eternally from God. God will establish His kingdom fully with a new heaven and a new earth, in which He will be glorified forever, having triumphed over all evil, suffering, and death.
